“We felt our debt was under control and we were competent in handling our finances, when we were suddenly faced with a merciless credit card company. “We were 105K in debt and had our credit cards maxed out, paying the minimum payments. Both my wife and I have good jobs. I work with an international paper company and my wife is with a grocery company. Together we make a great income and tend to ‘live large’. I knew, though, that at this rate we’d always be paying on this debt. It’s hard to stop thinking, ‘We earned it, let’s enjoy it’. But we were just not making any progress. There simply would not have been enough money left over to enjoy life after paying Bank of America and my Credit Union each month. I had just over $25,000 in debt plus my two mortgages.
